Lockyer Valley Chicken Farm

The Chicken Rearing Farm consumed 218,990 kWh in the year before the audit at a cost of $31,974. In addition to that, the facility also consumed 71,602 litres of LPG at a cost of $61,832. The combined greenhouse emissions from the facility were estimated to be 302.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent. The site operates 24/7 during the 20 week rearing cycles.

The recommendations explored in the audit included replacing the 30kW pump with a new one including VSD, adding VSD to two existing pumps, and install a 12kW solar PV system. The farmer has implemented the VSDs and pump replacement solutions.

Kalbar Horticulture Farm

A horticulture farm located near Kalbar could benefit by saving energy and money from recommendations in a recent energy savers audit. The audit recommended replacing the existing 37kW dam pump with a new pump of the same size including Variable Speed Drive (VSD), as well as install two solar systems, 12kW for the shed roof and a 10kW ground-mounted system for the main irrigation pump. So far, the farmer has replaced the pump.

A horticulture farm located near Caboolture could benefit by saving energy, time and money from recommendations in a recent energy audit. The audit recommended installing 3 solar systems and 4 new condensing units with Variable Speed Drives (VSD) on the compressor and the condenser fan to offset the farm energy consumption.
